Deepening Exchanges to Explore New Paths for Quantum Field Cooperation – Academician Liu Aiqun and His Delegation Visit Shishan Laboratory

On July 11, 2025, Academician Liu Aiqun, an international expert in quantum technology, quantum chips, and advanced silicon photonics semiconductors, and the Dean and Chair Professor of the Institute of Quantum Technology at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, visited the Shishan Quantum Computation and Quantum Detection Laboratory with his research team. During this visit, the team focused on investigating the laboratory's scientific research and innovation achievements, technology transfer and application, as well as the construction of the talent echelon. Additionally, they put forward forward-looking suggestions and support plans for the laboratory's future development plan.

Academician Liu Aiqun is an international expert in the fields of quantum technology, quantum chips, and advanced silicon photonics semiconductors. He was elected as a Fellow of the Singapore Academy of Engineering in 2021 and named a Global STEM Scholar (Hong Kong) in 2023. Currently, he serves as Dean and Chair Professor of the Institute of Quantum Technology at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His main research focuses on photonic integrated chips, photonic quantum computing and communication, advanced optoelectronic integrated technology, and micro-optofluidic system.


Lab Visit

Accompanied by Professor Yu Yang, Director of the Laboratory, Academician Liu Aiqun and his delegation learned about the laboratory's basic information, research directions and talent team development from Dr. Zheng Wen, Director of the R&D Department. They also visited the core areas of the laboratory and gained a detailed understanding of the laboratory's latest achievements in cutting-edge fields such as superconducting qubits and quantum algorithms. 

During the tour of the laboratory's core areas, Academician Liu's team highly praised the laboratory's research environment and equipment conditions, with special recognition for the innovation in quantum chip design.

Academician Liu emphasized, The competition in quantum technology has entered the stage of ecosystem construction, which requires universities, enterprises, and the government to form a joint force for innovation. Meanwhile, he showed great interest in the laboratory's development progress and conducted in-depth academic exchanges with the research team on the frontiers of quantum technology development.
