The Shishan Quantum Laboratory is co-established by Suzhou City and the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University, with Professor Yu Yang, a Changjiang Scholar from Nanjing University, serving as the project leader. The innovative talent team of superconducting quantum devices at Nanjing University is one of the earliest teams in China to carry out experimental research on superconducting quantum computing. It boasts world-class quantum computing and quantum detection technologies, and has successively undertaken the first superconducting quantum computing project under the Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, as well as major projects of the National Laboratory for Technological Innovation 2030 in quantum information. To implement the cooperation between Suzhou City and the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University in the fields of cutting-edge basic science and national major strategic needs, Nanjing University and Suzhou City jointly inaugurated the Shishan Quantum Computation and Quantum Detection Laboratory in July 2021. The establishment of the Shishan Laboratory represents a bold practice by both parties in management innovation, model innovation, and mechanism innovation to achieve in-depth integration of university-local innovation resources. It is also a major measure to take the lead in deploying innovation elements in the knowledge economy circle around Nanjing University. The development of the laboratory will attract more high-end R&D resources to gather in Suzhou, accelerate the development of related industries, facilitate the exploration and cultivation of new economic growth poles, and trigger new economic long waves.
The R&D site of Shishan Laboratory is located in 101 Park at No. 158 Jinfeng Road, Suzhou Science and Technology Town, covering an area of 1,700 square meters.Currently, Shishan Laboratory has over 80 full-time and part-time staff members. Among them, there are 3 Distinguished Professors of the Changjiang Scholars Program under the Ministry of Education, 4 recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 6 talents of the National Overseas High-level Young Talents Program, and 13 Shishan Quantum Leading Young Scholars. The laboratory is also equipped with a complete superconducting quantum chip fabrication process platform and a cryogenic quantum measurement and control platform.
