Zhicheng Distinguished Professor of Nanjing University. He has been selected for National Leading Talents and National Young Talents, Jiangsu Young and Middle-aged Academic Leaders, Nanjing University Dengfeng Talent Program, and received the May 4th Youth Medal of Nanjing University.He has long dedicated himself to research on superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPDs) and their applications. He has overcome key challenges in materials and device engineering and developed China’s first SNSPD device, enabling the SNSPD achievement to be exhibited at the National Major S&T Achievements Exhibition of the 11th Five-Year Plan.In response to major national demands for large-active-area, high-speed and high-efficiency single-photon detection, he has developed three types of superconducting single-photon detectors with outstanding overall performance. These devices have been deployed in major projects including lunar-Earth laser ranging and space environment detection, supporting four “firsts” in China’s lunar-Earth laser ranging missions.He has presided over and participated in numerous research projects such as the Innovation 2030 Major Project, National Key R&D Program, NSFC Instrument Development Project (recommended by ministries), Distinguished Young Scholars Program and NSFC Key Projects. As the first or corresponding author, he has published around 30 papers in prestigious journals including Nature sister journals, National Science Review, Light: Science & Applications and Nano Letters. He holds 16 authorized invention patents including 2 international patents. His awards include the Second-Class National Teaching Achievement Award and the First Prize of Provincial and Ministerial Technological Invention Award (1st completer).
