From May 17 to 19, 2025, the 2025 Shishan Summit on Synergistic Development of Quantum Technology (Academia & Industry) was successfully held at the Center for International Academic Exchange of Nanjing University Suzhou Campus. The summit was guided by the Administrative Committee of Suzhou High-tech Zone, hosted by the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of Suzhou High-tech Zone, the Frontiers Science Institute of Nanjing University and the Administrative Committee of Suzhou Science and Technology Town, and undertaken by Shishan Quantum Computation and Quantum Detection Laboratory.Gathering top domestic and foreign experts, scholars, industrial leaders and representatives of investment institutions, the summit conducted in-depth discussions on cutting-edge fields such as quantum computing, quantum information and quantum detection. It aimed to build a bridge between academic research and industrial application, accelerate the transformation of quantum technology innovation achievements, and help Suzhou build a quantum technology industry highland with international influence.

Opening Ceremony: Charting the Blueprint and Jointly Embarking on a New Journey
At the opening ceremony, Jiang Tian, Assistant President of Nanjing University, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Suzhou Campus, and Executive Deputy Director of the Management Committee, delivered a welcome speech. He emphasized that scientific and technological innovation and industrial innovation are the core driving forces for developing new productive forces. As the source of vitality and strategic engine for science and technology, universities must bravely undertake the mission of serving the country's major needs, and the achievements of Shishan Laboratory are a model of university-local collaboration between Nanjing University and Suzhou High-tech Zone.

Yang Liang, Deputy Director of Suzhou high-tech zone Administrative Committee, Deputy Head of Huqiu District, and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Suzhou Science & Technology Town, pointed out that quantum technology is a key variable leading the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, and also a core field for the country to seize the commanding height of global scientific and technological competition. In the future development, Suzhou high-tech zone will continue to provide strong support, further deepen the connection and cooperation with Nanjing University, and build a main position for Suzhou's industrial science and innovation.

Major Release: Strategic Cooperation and Platform Upgrade
At the opening ceremony, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Quantum Information Science and Technology and Hong Kong Quantum Institute of the University of Hong Kong signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two parties will deepen cooperation in areas such as technological research, talent exchange and achievement transformation, and jointly advance the global layout of quantum technology.

Subsequently, the Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Quantum Information Science and Technology was officially launched, demonstrating the laboratory's strategic vision and firm determination to deepen its layout and lead innovation in the quantum technology field. The successful application for this provincial key laboratory and the signing of the cooperation agreement with the Hong Kong Quantum Institute of the University of Hong Kong are an important milestone in the construction of Shishan Quantum Laboratory, and also mark that the high-tech zone has entered a new stage and achieved a new leap in tackling key technologies such as quantum communication and quantum computing.

The opening ceremony of the summit was hosted by Chen Qian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Nanjing University Suzhou Campus, Deputy Director of the Management Committee, and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Frontiers Science Institute.
Academic Feast: Cutting-Edge Exploration and Industrial Empowerment
The summit featured over 10 thematic reports, covering core fields such as quantum computation, quantum communication, and quantum precision measurement. Scholars from universities including Tsinghua University and the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) shared their latest research achievements: Professor Sun Luyan from Tsinghua University presented research on quantum information Processing of bosonic modes; Professor Zhou Zhengwei from USTC gave an academic sharing themed super-Heisenberg scaling; and Professor Peng Xinhua from USTC shared the research progress in spin quantum information processing.



Post-Summit Activities: Tree Planting at Academician Forest and Visit to Shishan Laboratory
After the summit, accompanied by staff from relevant departments of Nanjing University Suzhou Campus and Yu Yang, Director of Shishan Laboratory, Academician Guo Guangcan, Academician Ma Yuqiang and their party went to the Academician Forest of Nanjing University Suzhou Campus, where they planted two ginkgo trees with their own hands, adding new greenery to the campus.




Subsequently, Academicians Guo Guangcan, Xing Dingyu and Ma Yuqiang were invited to visit Shishan Quantum Computation and Quantum Detection Laboratory. Director Yu Yang introduced the laboratory's research directions, research achievements and talent team development. The academicians put forward valuable suggestions on the laboratory's future development and current research status.

Looking to the Future: From a Intersection to a New Starting Point
This summit is not only an intersection for the integration of academia and industry, but also a new starting point for quantum technology to empower high-quality development. Guided by national strategic needs, Shishan Laboratory will continue to deepen university-local collaborative innovation, promote the transition of quantum technology from the laboratory to industrialization, and help China gain an advantage in the global quantum technology competition.
