From September 25 to 26, 2024, the Shishan Science Lecture Series – coinciding with the Suzhou High-tech Zone event for National Public Science Day – was successfully held. Jointly organized by the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University, the Suzhou High-tech Zone Association for Science and Technology, and the Shishan Quantum Computation and Quantum Detection Laboratory, the event aims to broaden the scientific horizons of middle school students in the high-tech zone, stimulate their interest in scientific research, foster a spirit of innovation, enhance the public's scientific literacy, and contribute to building China into a great power in science and technology.
1. Academician's Lecture
On the afternoon of September 25, amid warm applause, the Shishan Science Lecture Series officially kicked off at Jiangsu Suzhou Experimental Middle School, Affiliated to Nanjing University.
The lecture was hosted by Hong Shaohui, Principal of Jiangsu Suzhou Experimental Middle School. Distinguished guests in attendance included Lü Jianlin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Suzhou High-tech Zone Working Committee, Director of the Organization Department, and Director of the United Front Work Department; Gu Gongliang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University; Yu Yang, Director of the Shishan Quantum Computation and Quantum Detection Laboratory at Nanjing University; Wang Xuan, Director of the Suzhou Campus Office of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Achievement Transformation of Nanjing University; Lu Chun, Deputy Director of the Education Bureau of Suzhou High-tech Zone; Gu Haiming, Chairman of the Association for Science and Technology of Suzhou High-tech Zone; and Ma Zhulin, Executive Principal of Jiangsu Suzhou Experimental Middle School, among other leaders.

At the outset of the event, Director Gu Gongliang, on behalf of the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University, extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to Academician Du Youwei for his presence. Minister Lü Jianlin awarded Academician Du Youwei the certificate of Distinguished Science Popularization Educator of the Shishan Lecture Series.

2. Commemorative Tree Planting at the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University
On the morning of September 26, accompanied by leaders including Gu Gongliang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University; Jin Chang, Executive Director of the Project Construction Department and Deputy Director of the Capital Construction Office of the Administrative Committee of the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University; and Yu Yang, Director of the Shishan Quantum Computation and Quantum Detection Laboratory at Nanjing University, Academician Du Youwei went to the Academician Forest of the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University to participate in the tree-planting commemoration activity.

3. Visiting Shishan Laboratory
After the tree-planting activity, Academician Du Youwei visited the Shishan Quantum Computation and Quantum Detection Laboratory and conducted in-depth academic exchanges with the laboratory's researchers. He offered the following advice to the researchers: In scientific research, do not be constrained by tasks or existing conclusions.
Witnessed by relevant staff from the Suzhou Campus Office of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Achievement Transformation of Nanjing University, Director Yu Yang presented a letter of appointment to Academician Du Youwei, formally engaging him as a consultant to the Academic Committee of the Shishan Quantum Computation and Quantum Detection Laboratory.
The Shishan Science Lecture Series has provided the public with opportunities to understand science and experience technology, inspired young people's interest in science, and laid the foundation for cultivating scientific talents.
