In response to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instruction that quantum technology is a cutting-edge science and technology of great strategic significance, and to promote scientific and technological innovation and social progress, the National Finals of the 6th · 2024 MindSpore Quantum Computing Hackathon, co-hosted by the MindSpore Quantum SIG of Ascend and the Shishan Quantum Computation and Quantum Detection Laboratory at Nanjing University, successfully concluded at the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University on August 27.

1. Gathering of Top Talents, Collision of Ideas
Hosted by the MindSpore Quantum SIG of Ascend, co-organized by renowned universities including Nanjing University, University of Science and Technology of China, and University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, the competition went through three intense rounds of preliminary, preliminary elimination, and final contests. The final National Finals were undertaken by the Shishan Quantum Computation and Quantum Detection Laboratory and the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University, and held at the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University from August 26 to 27, 2024.
Centered on MindSpore Quantum, a new-generation general quantum computing framework, this competition set up three tracks: quantum simulation, quantum combinatorial optimization, and quantum-inspired algorithms, attracting a large number of outstanding contestants. Coming from various universities and scientific research institutions, the participants gathered together with their passion for quantum computing and pursuit of technology, launching a wonderful and exciting contest.
2. Review of the Competition
At the opening ceremony of the competition, Gu Gongliang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University, and Zhang Haiyi, Director of the Institute of Technology and Standards of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, delivered enthusiastic speeches.
They extended a warm welcome to all contestants and staff, and highly praised the organization of this competition. They encouraged researchers to boldly scale the heights of science and technology, striving for achieving high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement and building a world power in science and technology.


During the two-day competition, guests, expert judges and audiences witnessed the wonderful performances of the contestants.
On the morning of August 26, with the official opening of the competition, the defense session of the quantum simulation track proceeded intensely and in an orderly manner. The contestants demonstrated the application potential of quantum computing in the field of quantum chemistry, leaving a deep impression. The defense of the quantum combinatorial optimization track in the afternoon was equally wonderful. The various quantum combinatorial optimization schemes proposed by the participating teams provided new ideas for the practical application of quantum computing in fields such as communications.
On the 27th, the defense session of the Quantum - Inspired Heuristic Algorithms track brought the competition to a climax. The contestants conducted in-depth discussions on quantum computing and artificial intelligence, injecting new vitality into the development of quantum computing.




After fierce competition, the final list of winners was announced at the award ceremony. It is expected that their high-level original achievements will further promote the rapid development of quantum computing technology.




This competition invited top experts in the field of quantum computing from across the country to serve as judges. They carefully evaluated the participating works and provided professional comments and guidance. The judges unanimously agreed that the entries in this competition are of high standard and strong innovation, demonstrating the strong strength of China's quantum computing field.
3. Visiting Shishan Laboratory
After the award ceremony, some guests and contestants visited Shishan Laboratory for visits and discussions.

Shishan Laboratory showcased its latest research achievements and the latest developments in the field of quantum computing to them, enhancing mutual understanding and laying the foundation for further exchanges and cooperation in the future.
4. Look Ahead to the Future and Create Brilliance Together
The successful holding of the 6th · 2024 MindSpore Quantum Computing Hackathon not only demonstrated the strong strength of China's quantum computing field, but also provided a platform for exchange and learning for a large number of students and researchers.
