The kick-off meeting of the project R&D of a Medium-Scale Superconducting Quantum Computer System – an Industrial Forward-Looking Technology Project under the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Program – was successfully held on January 15, 2022. Led by Nanjing University, the project features Zhejiang University, CSSC Pride (Nanjing) Cryogenic Technology Co., Ltd., and Chengmai Technology (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. as cooperative units, with a duration of 4 years. Hosted by the cooperative unit Chengmai Technology (Nanjing) Co., Ltd., the meeting was attended by leaders from the project's competent authority and Nanjing University for guidance. Also present were Professor Yu Yang from the School of Physics of Nanjing University (project leader), leaders of each cooperative unit, and core project members from all participating organizations. Leaders attending the meeting pointed out that this project marks the first time quantum technology has been incorporated into the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Program, which holds great promise for China's future technological innovation. They emphasized that Jiangsu Province should strengthen national strategic scientific and technological capabilities, improve the scientific and technological innovation system and mechanism, stimulate the vitality of talent innovation, and strive to break through bottleneck problems such as quantum technology. They required all research teams to focus on the leading unit, enhance communication, cooperate fully, and complete the project tasks on schedule. Leaders from Nanjing University stated that the university will actively support and cooperate with the smooth implementation of the program under the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, contributing to solving key bottleneck issues. Subsequently, Professor Yu Yang, the project leader, gave an overall introduction to the project's background, significance, and research objectives. Dr. Zhao Jie from the School of Physics of Nanjing University, Manager Zeng Guangrong from Chengmai Technology (Nanjing) Co., Ltd., Dr. Cheng Tian from CSSC Pride (Nanjing) Cryogenic Technology Co., Ltd., and Dr. Wang Bo from Zhejiang University separately reported on the decomposition of their respective research tasks and implementation plans on behalf of their research groups. After the reports, engineers and leaders from all cooperative units conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the future implementation plan of the project. The meeting achieved complete success, laying a solid foundation for the completion of the project.
