On December 7, 2024, the sun shone brightly and the winter chill grew stronger. Academician Wu Peiheng, a renowned superconducting electronics scientist of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and his delegation arrived in Suzhou to start their visit.This event was hosted by Nanjing University Shishan Quantum Computation and Quantum Detection Laboratory (hereinafter referred to as Shishan Laboratory), aiming to promote the development of quantum technology in Suzhou.
Academician Wu Peiheng is a superconducting electronics scientist. Elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005, he currently serves as a professor at the Institute of Superconducting Electronics of Nanjing University and concurrently holds the position of Honorary Director of the Superconducting Electronics Branch of the Chinese Institute of Electronics. His research covers the basic laws of physical processes in superconductors, the development of new electronic devices based on these laws, and the promotion of their application in practical problems.
On the afternoon of December 7, Academician Wu Peiheng and his delegation went to Nanjing University Suzhou Campus. Accompanied by staff from relevant departments of Nanjing University Suzhou Campus and Yu Yang, Director of Shishan Laboratory, Academician Wu visited the Academician Forest and planted a ginkgo tree with his own hands, adding a touch of green to the campus.
During the tree-planting process, Academician Wu had a cordial conversation with everyone, discussing campus construction and talent cultivation.
After the tree-planting activity, Academician Wu and his delegation went to Nanyong Building of Nanjing University Suzhou Campus to experience the construction and development of the campus.
After leaving Nanjing University Suzhou Campus, Academician Wu and his delegation visited Shishan Laboratory. Director Yu Yang introduced the laboratory's research directions, research achievements and talent team development to Academician Wu and his delegation.
Academician Wu showed great interest in the laboratory's construction and development. He had in-depth communication with the laboratory's researchers, conducting in-depth discussions on aspects such as the future development trend of quantum technology, talent cultivation, and cooperative exchanges. Regarding the researchers' confusion in choosing research directions, Academician Wu put forward guiding suggestions: first, they should pay close attention to the current mainstream trends in scientific research and deeply think about what specific practical value the chosen research direction can bring to the country and society; in addition, they need to comprehensively consider their own resource status and conditional constraints to make appropriate choices.
Academician Wu Peiheng's trip to Suzhou this time has brought valuable academic resources and development opportunities to Shishan Laboratory, and also opened up new ways for cooperation between Nanjing University Suzhou Campus and local scientific research institutions. Shishan Laboratory will implement Academician Wu's guiding opinions, deepen the research on quantum information science, strengthen basic research and applied technology innovation, optimize the construction of talent echelons, enhance the core competitiveness of the research team, and carry out strong alliances with sister institutions to provide support for promoting the development of quantum information technology in Suzhou and even the whole country.
