Ph.D. in Science, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor, School of Physics, Nanjing University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Crystal Physics from the Department of Physics, Nanjing University in 2000 and Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from Nanjing University in 2006. He was awarded the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award of Jiangsu Province and National Nomination for Excellent Doctoral Dissertation in 2007. He carried out postdoctoral research at the School of Electronic Science and Engineering, Nanjing University from 2006 to 2008 and subsequently joined the university’s faculty. From August 2008 to October 2009, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Northwestern University, USA.

He teaches and leads curriculum development for Electrodynamics. The course was approved as a National First-Class Undergraduate Course in 2025 (he ranks 2nd among five contributors). He was selected into the first Zhongying Program for Cultivating Distinguished Young Teachers and Excellent Courses of Nanjing University in 2021. His teaching honors include the Nanjing University Industry-Education Integration Teaching Fellowship (2024), Bailu Teaching Fellowship (2023), Bank of China Teaching Fellowship (2012, 2020), Tongzheng Teaching Fellowship (2018, 2020), and Outstanding Postgraduate Moral Supervisor of Nanjing University (2025).

His long-term research centers on the design, precision fabrication, novel optical phenomena and applied fundamentals of functional artificial optical microstructures. Since 2018, his research has focused on light field manipulation and topological state engineering in artificial optical microstructures enabled by band engineering and topological physics. He has published more than 60 papers in leading international journals including Physical Review Letters, Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, Laser & Photonics Reviews, Physical Review A/B/Applied, Optics Letters, Optics Express, Applied Physics Letters, Small, ACS Nano and Langmuir. He has filed 11 national invention patents as a co-inventor, among which 6 have been authorized. He received the First Prize of Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Award in 2018 (3rd contributor among six).
