The Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Quantum Information Science and Technology was approved for establishment in 2025. The laboratory is hosted by the School of Physics at Nanjing University, with the Yangtze River Delta Quantum Technology Industrial Innovation Center as a co-construction partner. In March 2025, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology officially approved the laboratory’s construction at the Suzhou Campus of Nanjing University, designating the Lion Hill Quantum Computing and Quantum Detection Frontier Laboratory in Suzhou High-tech Zone as its core construction entity. In May 2025, the Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Quantum Information Science and Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Hong Kong Quantum Institute of the University of Hong Kong. Both parties will deepen collaboration in areas such as technological research, personnel exchanges, and achievement transformation, jointly advancing the global deployment of quantum technology.
The laboratory focuses on research in superconducting quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum precision measurement, and fundamental quantum theory. Aligned with industrial objectives such as quantum benchmark engineering, manufacturing engineering, and experimental engineering, it aims to play a significant role in major original innovations, pioneering technology development, and breakthroughs in key core technologies. Currently, the provincial key laboratory for quantum information science and technology has been integrated into the Suzhou sector, with the Lion Hill Laboratory and the Yangtze River Delta Quantum Technology Industrial Innovation Center designated as key construction sites.
